New 40th Eastern PA UMC Laity Academy
Friday, August 2nd – Saturday, August 3rd
Eastern University, 1300 Eagle Road, St. David’s, PA
The EPAUMC Laity Academy is a unique learning experience for members of our local churches bringing together a wide variety of learning opportunities for all lay persons wanting to grow in their ministry areas, including Christ Servant Ministers and Christ Lay Ministers who regularly preach or lead congregations.
Onsite registration will begin at 4 PM on Friday, August 2, with classes meeting from 7 PM to 9 PM that evening and again in the morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday, August 3. Classes include the Basic Class for those beginning the journey in Christ Servant Ministry as well as nine additional classes in caring, speaking, and leading ministries. Seven of the ten classes are open to all laity, with no prerequisites. Five of the classes are new this year, providing opportunities for even long-time lay servants to learn more in their chosen ministry areas.
The course catalog, available HERE, describes the classes in detail. In addition to the 8 hours of onsite instruction, each class requires 2 additional hours of work that instructors will send to students upon their registration, available here: REGISTER. The $100 course fee covers all materials for the class as well as Saturday’s meals at Eastern.

Al-Anon Family Groups – People who were once lonely, lost, and helpless because of someone’s drinking, today have courage, confidence, and hope. They have discovered friends who understand, as few others can. They have found the tools to help themselves – which can indirectly help their alcoholic relatives or loved ones. Contentment and even happiness are possible whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. Come and see.
